English Wiki
"The content of this wiki has been created by the University of Manchester Primary PGCE trainee teachers. It has been designed to help you promote reading for pleasure and identify interesting and sometimes challenging children's literature (past and current) for use in the classroom.
Browse the reviews written by others and search using the tags in order to build on and improve your knowledge of children's literature for children aged 4 to 11. This wiki will be a great resource for you as you progress through the primary PGCE programme. You will be able to use it in order to identify good quality children's literature to use on GPP and FPP." Taken from the homepage of http://mcrprimarypgcechildrensliteraturewiki.wikispaces.com/home.
I also believe that this website will prove very useful once we have graduated from the P.G.C.E. programme as a way to identify excellent books to use in the classroom to stimulate learning.

As you can see in the picture, down the right hand side of the page are all of the books that have been added to the wiki. Each trainee suggested one book that could be used in KS1 and one that could be used in KS2. In total there are around 380 books. There is also a short summary of each book provided by the trainee which can be used to decided whether or not the book will be useful to use in your class. There is also a list of practical ideas for using the books in the classroom e.g. lesson ideas and topics to be covered. It's a huge creative effort of nearly 400 people.
Wikis can be used in the primary classroom. For example KS2 pupils could recommend books that they enjoyed when they were in KS1 to current KS1 pupils. Each class could upload examples of their work so parents would be able to engage more fully in their child's education. .
