Show me
The two videos show examples of two apps, 'Show Me' and 'Explain Everything'. The videos that I have recorded are of me demonstrating the the use of the app as I didn't have permission to use the pupils' work.
With these apps, the pupils can record an example of working out a calculation (like in one of the videos) and then add a voice recording of them explaining how they worked it out. This app can used for assessment purposes so the teacher can make sure that each child can explain what they are doing.
Another way this can be utilised to improve learning would be get the pupils to record their working out; connect the iPad to the IWB and show the rest of the class who can then peer assess.
This doesn't just have to be used for maths. A text for literary can be photographed and uploaded and pupils can highlight and talk about certain parts of the text. This again can be watched by the teacher, who can then assess the pupils' work. It can be used for anything where the pupils gave to talk and explain something.
Pupils who don't often answers questions in class who may be seen as 'invisible children' many benefit from this app. Because they aren't answering in front of the whole class they may feel less pressure recording the answer and be much more comfortable answering.
