iMovie
iMovie is an app that creates high quality and extremely professional film trailers. I saw this used as part of topic work in a year three class. They had been studying the Romans, and in groups of four, and made a film trailer that brought together everything they have been working on throughtout the topic. For example: what the Romans wore; certain important parts of history and famous Romans.
iMovie promotes collaborative learning and teamwork. Pupils must list me to one another and all have a role in making the trailer. It also develops planning skills as pupils must think about what they are going to film as iMovie sets up the shots ready to film.
If a pupil does not want to be filmed then they can be the one filming everyone else. There is also an opportunity to be involved I'm editing.
As with all apps, the trailers can be shown to the class for peer assessment, or even the whole school during assemblies on the IWB.
