iPad - General features
This is a great feature of the iPad which makes the sharing of pupil's ideas easier and much more effective. The iPad is connected to the IWB and opened with a program such as MS Word. When the pupils are discussing something in paris, e.g. eliciting ideas about a science topic, the teacher can go round the pupils, type in what the pupils share and it will appear on the IWB. The rest of the pupils can see these ideas, and in their pairs may discuss it further possibly bringing out further information on the topic. They may also have a chance to explain if they agree or disagree with the statements, or have longer to think about their views and ideas before the whole class discussion begins.
This method of gathering pupils ideas also saves time and allows the lesson to be much more pacy. Once the teacher ends the paired discussion, they can jump straight into a group discussion without having to spend time writing down all the ideas. It benefits the pupils greatly as it allows more content to be included in the lesson and allows more teaching and learning to take place. It's great because the teacher can respond quickly and adapt the lesson as soon as the pupils share their ideas.

This is a finished product from my series of art and I.C.T. lessons. I started off by getting the pupils to take pictures of nature in Autumn using the iPads. Usually when my pupils took pictures, they wouldn't spend time thinking about how to get the best picture. iPad are a great tool to use because the pupils can see exactly what their picture will look like before they take it. The results as you can see were very impressive. It also gave the opportunity for the pupils to explore nature using I.C.T.
The second step use the zoom feature on the iPad to focus on a part of the picture so the individual shapes and colours of the leaves could be identified. Once they had selected their area, pupils had to observe and sketch their zoomed picture, paying very close attention to the individual shape and detail of each leaf (see picture), which was made easier by using the zoom feature,
In the final lesson, the pupils painted their sketch with water colours, paying very close attention to the different colours, shades and blemishes. Because the quality of the camera on the iPad, the colours and detail of the leaves really stood out and the pupils were able to achieve fantastic results.
Using the iPads for these art lessons was much better than if I provided my own pictures of leaves. I think it effectively improved the engagement, quality of work and learning for the pupils are they had a real sense of ownership and pride of their photography skills and finished painting,
