Shapes
This is an app called 'Think 3D'. It lets pupils explore 3D shapes using I.C.T. It lets pupils discover the properties of 3D shapes e.g. Sides, edges and vertices. Pupils can begin to move away from using physical shapes they can handle and move towards applying their knowledge and working out properties of 3D shapes from 2D drawings.
I used this app for one of the rotations in one of maths lessons. I had pupils exploring different 3D shapes and writing down the properties of each shape, then comparing what they have found with each other.

This app is similar to the 'Simple Sums' app where pupils have to beat the clock and score the highest score possible. The questions are about 2D shapes e.g. naming common 2D shapes, identifying properties of 2D shapes etc.
This app improved learning because the pupils were very engaged and really enjoyed trying to beat their high scores.
